NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 14 University of Notre Dame hockey program faces off in a top-20 matchup this weekend against No. 17 Western Michigan University this weekend with a home-and-home series set for Oct. 21-22. The Irish open up the season series at home Friday at 7:05 p.m. before heading north to Kalamazoo, Michigan, Saturday for a 6 p.m. start.
Friday’s contest will be aired exclusively on Peacock while Saturday’s road match will be streamed on NCHC.tv.
The University’s clear bag policy will be in effect for both home contests.
NOTRE DAME vs. WESTERN MICHIGAN
- All-time, the Irish lead the series with the Broncos, 43-38-12. At home, Notre Dame owns a 26-16-3 record while the Irish icers trail the series history at WMU, 12-27-11.
- Their last meeting came in 2020 with the Irish taking the 4-1 win over the Broncos.

- The Irish picked up their first sweep of the season last weekend with a pair of home victories over Northern Michigan. Seven individuals found twine in the weekend series, including Ryan Helliwell who scored his first collegiate goal.
- Drew Bavaro also scored for the first time with the Blue and Gold, breaking a 3-3 tie late in the third period Sunday to lift his team to victory.
- Solag Bakich net the first shorthanded goal of the season with Notre Dame’s second goal Sunday. Landon Slaggert intercepted the puck at the blueline and sent it to Bakich on the breakaway to make it a 2-1 game late in the opening period.
- Chayse Primeau lit the lamp for his first goal of the season, and with the Irish, when he scored a powerplay goal Friday night to open scoring against the Wildcats.
- Primeau, Lansdell and Rolston each boasted three points on the weekend, tallying a goal and two assists each.
- Drew Bavaro was named Big Ten Second Star of the Week following his performance over the weekend series.
- Everything College Hockey named Jake Boltmann defenseman of the week for his sacrifice last weekend. Boltmann combined for 14 blocked shots over the weekend series, including eight in the Irish’s one-goal victory Sunday night.
- Ryder Rolston has recorded at least a point in each of his first four games this season, leading the team with six points and three goals.
- Grant Silianoff’s goal and assist on the weekend extrended his point-streak to three games (1-2-3).
- Landon Slaggert picked up an assist on Solag Bakich’s shorthanded tally Sunday night for his 50th career point (20-30-50).
