Notre Dame, Ind. – For the Notre Dame men’s golf team, the road has led to this weekend’s Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. The three-day annual event takes place April 20-22 in New London, North Carolina, at the Old North State Club. The par-72, 7,102-yard course will feature 12 ACC schools, with seeding based on current Golfstat rankings.
The No. 10 seeded Irish will begin play at 10 a.m. ET on hole No. 10 on Friday, with each player teeing-off in 12-minute intervals. Saturday’s play will commence at 9 a.m., while Sunday’s start time is set for 8:30 a.m., with exact tee-times based on standings entering that day.
ACC Network Extra will provide live coverage of the event from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, and then 1-3:30 p.m. on Championship Sunday. In addition, there will be no charge for admission for fans.
THE LOWDOWN
The ACC Championship field consists of No. 1 Georgia Tech, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Florida State, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 6 Duke, No. 7 NC State, No. 8 Louisville, No. 9 Virginia, No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 12 Boston College. To put into perspective, the top-4 seeds are all ranked within the nation’s top-20, while the top-9 seeds are all ranked within the top-50.
This year marks the 21st time overall that the league championship will be held at the Old North State Club.
THE FIGHTING IRISH FIVE
For the fourth consecutive tournament this spring, the Irish will utilize the lineup of Ben Albin, Miguel Delgado, Davis Chatfield, Davis Lamb and John Felitto.
Felitto looks to continue his solid spring campaign, leading the Irish with a 71.67 stroke average per round. Lamb averages a 72.93 and boasts two top-10 finishes on the year, including a seventh place showing at the Clemson Invitational last weekend.
Albin is also averaging 72.93 strokes per round this spring, followed by Chatfield’s 73.5 and Delgado’s 73.79.
AROUND THE CORNER
Right after the conclusion of the ACC Championships is Notre Dame Day starting at 6:42 pm on April 22. Over the next 29 hours, fans can catch a live broadcast which highlights the different programs across campus, including Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan, who is slated to be live at 12:39 p.m. on Monday, April 23.
